“I’ve tried to be that reliable bridge between the drums and the rest of the band to make the music feel good.” – Joel Exline
Meet Joel Exline, the rhythmic force behind Scars’ unforgettable basslines. Drawing from influences like Michael Anthony, John Paul Jones, Geddy Lee, Bob Daisley, Hugh McDonald, and Nathan East, Joel’s bass journey began in Oswego and has been a dynamic exploration of groove and rhythm.
With an uncanny ability to lock in with the drums and elevate the entire band’s sound, Joel’s basslines have a knack for turning ordinary moments into foot-tapping, head-nodding experiences. From smoky local dives to big stages across New York State, his bass has been the anchor that keeps the music tight and the crowd moving.
When he’s not busy sculpting infectious rhythms, Joel enjoys mentoring aspiring bassists, passing on his groove-centric wisdom.
